About Doug

Doug Lerch is a Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience counseling individuals, children and families.  Doug earned his B.A. in Human Ecology and Masters in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies.  He is the founder of Seeds of Awareness, a non-profit organization transforming schools and communities with mindfulness and nature based services.  Doug offers Professional Development trainings to organizations, parents, and businesses in Mindfulness, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity Inclusion), Trauma-informed care, and much more.



Doug has 3 years training in Gestalt Therapy, and 10 years of ongoing training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP) which has profoundly deepened the impact of his work.  

 

In his clinical work with children Doug utilizes sandplay therapy, a Jungian oriented process of expression and healing.  Doug is trained in the Violet Oaklander Method of Expressive Arts Gestalt Therapy for children.  He integrates play, movement, mindfulness and nature into his sessions. 



 

In working with couples, Doug weaves together precepts from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP) and Imago Couples Therapy.  He focuses on the couples direct experiences in the room to help them illuminate and let go of unhealthy patterns and create satisfying new ways of relating.
